- Character Name: Anya Christina Emmanuella Jenkins
- Character Age: 1127
- Place of Birth: Sjornjost, Sweden
- Powers:
Teleportation - Anya can teleport in the blink of an eye - any distance, anywhere, provided that her intended destination hasn't somehow prevented this by magical means. She cannot, however, physically teleport anyone else along with her.
Immortality - She does not visibly age -- though she is over a thousand years old, she only appears to be in her late twenties.
Wish-Granting - Like all vengeance demons, Anya is capable of granting dark wishes. It usually only works when the granter has some kind of ill intent behind their wish, which she is able to twist to her own interpretation. There are only two ways in which these wishes can be undone: either Anya herself reverses them, or, in the instance that her jade necklace (her power center) is destroyed, this would also be a result.
Vengeance Tracking - When an individual is experiencing strong feelings of vindictiveness, Anya is able to sense it. Usually, she can use this to track the whereabouts of the person in question if need be.
Enhanced Strength - Her physical strength is much greater than a human's; it actually seems to be near-slayer level.
Enhanced Durability - Anya seems to be able to take quite a bit of a beating; most normally fatal physical injuries - such as a sword through the heart - don't seem to have lasting damaging effect on her.
Telekinesis - As used by Halfrek in "Older and Far Away", vengeance demons possess limited forms of telekinesis.
Magic - Before she became a demon, "Aud" was training herself to be a witch -- actually, the reason she was even offered a position as a vengeance demon was because of the spell she cast turning her unfaithful husband into a troll - Occupation: Vengeance Demon / Shopkeeper

- Likes-
Money.
Sex.
Humans (well, most of 'em).
Honesty.
Attention. - Dislikes-
Apocalypses.
Things she doesn't understand.
Pain; guilt.
Losing or failing at something.
Being ignored or underestimated. - Strengths-
-Anya's one thousand years as a demon have led her to become extremely knowledgeable in the areas of history, magic, demonology, and language. Having traveled the world, she can speak most languages--her most fluent being English, Russian, French, Latin, and Old Norse(her mother tongue).
-She seems to have some skill at sword-fighting, probably as part as some weapon training courses she undertook at the beginning of her vengeance career.
- She's definitely not one to let people walk all over her. In fact, Anya is often one of the first to call people out on their bullshit...and she doesn't have much tolerance for it. It's at time like these when her bluntness actually comes in handy; sometimes Anya has the guts to say what needs to be said when no one else can.
- She is extremely organized, particularly when it comes to money. You can always count on Anya to get your affairs in order; she's been known to often keep charts, balances, organized receipts, and the like. She's a great financial planner--and she knows how to drive a hard bargain. - Weaknesses-
- Her main weakness is her inability to understand human nature. Having been a vengeance demon for a thousand years, Anya has found it difficult to fit into the human world again. She doesn't understand the need for tact, and often comes off as blunt, insensitive, and downright rude.
- While physical injuries seem for the most part ineffective against her, Anya is a demon, and therefore she is affected by most forms of magical combat. She can even be controlled by some means; if one were to use a vengeance demon summoning spell to call her, she'd be forced to teleport straight to them.
-She is very materialistic. The girl is practically obsessed with capitalism and making money, and can occasionally be vain or selfish.
-Her identity and sense of self-worth isn't something she's very confident about. If you're looking to make Anya doubt herself, just suggest that she doesn't really know who she is.
"Yes you are. Look, it's Summers blood. It's just like mine."
- Mother- Deceased, and she can't remember her.
- Father- Deceased, and she can't remember him.
- Siblings- None.
- Full History-
Roughly eleven hundred years ago, Anya was born in a tiny Swedish village. Her name, then, was Aud. Life in her village was primitive and simple, as long as one were to obey the rules society set down. Aud, however, wasn't exactly adept at this. She was an extremely inquisitive individual who did not hesitate to speak her mind, and her fellow villagers did not look kindly upon such qualities. Aud's peculiar nature soon set her at odds with the people living around her, and as she grew older she became known as something of an outcast.
Somehow, however, this never seemed to bother her. Aud either did not notice the townspeople's irritation, or didn't care. She was happy with the simplicity of her life, especially after the finding the one person who seemed to be able to tolerate her: Olaf. Olaf was a large, blundering man who thought quite a lot of himself and...not so much of others. But he put up with her, and could usually manage to listen to her various ramblings without much more complaint than a few occasional grumbles. And so Aud grew to love him dearly for it--or at least thought she did. The two were soon married, and for a time she was more or less happy.
Of course, this did not last. Olaf's attentions grew more fleeting as he became more and more impatient with his talkative wife, and as he grew more distant, Aud began to grow suspicious. Upon investigating further, she discovered that her husband was cheating on her with a local barmaiden--a fact that most of the village already seemed to be aware of. Enraged and humiliated, Aud immediately sought revenge. Though she was not a witch, she had some knowledge of herbs and basic magic spells, and using this she literally turned Olaf into a troll in an act of vengeance.
An angry and bewildered Olaf immediately wreaked havoc on the village, and Aud was left to coldly watch the chaotic effects of her spell from the sidelines. At this time, she was approached by an ancient, powerful demon by the name of D'Hoffryn. D'Hoffryn, as he explained, was a leader of a group of creatures known as vengeance demons. He recruited humans who showed a particular vindictive streak, and ascended them to demonic level...if they would agree to work for him in return, of course. He made this offer to Aud, convincing her that it was "her destiny". Broken, spiteful, and with a newfound harsh outlook on the cruel world she lived in, Aud agreed.
And so she became a new entity, taking on a new name in order to leave her human life behind completely. She became known as Anyanka, patron saint of scorned women, and quickly earned a fearsome reputation as one of the most ruthless, merciless vengeance demons in existence. For a thousand years, Anyanka took pleasure in traveling the world and wreaking havoc wherever she went. Wherever she sensed pain and heartbreak, she would sweep in an manipulate the broken individual in question, slyly provoking their anger and will to seek revenge. Eventually, Anyanka would trick her victims into wishing something horrible on whoever had hurt them...and if these wishes weren't chaotic enough for her satisfaction, she would twist them into something even more awful. Anyanka was the very embodiment of "be careful what you wish for". With every wish she granted, and every act of vengeance she committed, she lost more and more of her humanity. In time, Anyanka grew to thoroughly enjoy the turmoil she created, which ranged from turning boys into slugs to literally starting wars (just ask, and she'll enthusiastically tell you about her part in beginning the Russian Revolution). Though in her own eyes her work was some twisted form of dealing out justice, Anyanka soon became consumed by her demonic identity. She grew powerful, terrible, feared.
...Then, just like that, it ended. In the year of 1997, Anyanka's thirst for vengeance brought her to the little town of Sunnydale, California. Her chosen client: a high school student by the name of Cordelia Chase, who was distraught after discovering her boyfriend had cheated on her. Anyanka tricked Cordelia into making a wish that the demon would use to create a horrific alternate universe--some of her most devastating work yet. Unfortunately for Anyanka, Cordelia happened to be associated with Buffy Summers, the infamous vampire slayer. Any creatures of the night who tried messing around in Sunnydale had Buffy to deal with, as Anyanka would soon discover. To break out of the alternate dimension and undo Anyanka's magic, Buffy and her friends destroyed the demon's power source: her jade necklace.
The action not only reversed Cordelia's wish, but also rendered Anyanka powerless and mortal. In short, she became human once again. At first, she was absolutely infuriated and immediately sought to regain her powers. She tried everything from spell-casting to appealing to D'Hoffryn itself, but the reality was that she was hopelessly trapped in the human world. As a high school student, no less. With high school student feelings. Talk about hell.
With no other choice but to try and blend into this world, Anyanka adopted a human name: Anya Jenkins. She would soon discover that she'd highly underestimated the effects her newfound humanity would have on her, starting with her growing attraction to one Xander Harris(ironically, the very boy she'd come to Sunnydale to seek vengeance against). As time went by, Anya slowly began to find herself falling in love with him, and becoming entangled in his life. Xander happened to be good friends with Buffy and her little gang--and while Anya only reluctantly accepted them at first, she eventually found herself a willing member of their little group. As the years went by and she forged stronger connections with these people, Anya found herself experiencing emotions she hadn't felt in over a thousand years: friendship, grief, loyalty, love. The ex-demon began to change and soften, succumbing to these feelings and understanding for the first time what humanity really meant.
Just as she was finally settling into her human life, however, her world was shattered. At one point, Xander had proposed to her, and she readily accepted. But on the day of their wedding, an old victim of Anya's from her former demon days returned for revenge. Showing Xander false images of a horrible, unhappy future with his bride-to-be, this man successfully planted doubts in Xander's heart...ultimately leading to him leaving Anya at the altar. Heartbroken and left without the only person she was truly living for, Anya was consumed by grief. However, this grief soon turned to anger, and when D'Hoffryn returned to her and stirred her fury further...she readily accepted his offer to become a vengeance demon again.
But as her rage and pain slowly began to fade, Anya realized that being a demon was vastly more difficult for her than it once had been. After all she'd experienced as a human, she found herself incapable of inflicting pain and actually enjoying it. Her guilt steadily softened each act of vengeance she committed, drawing an immense amount of disapproval from the rest of the demon community. Eventually, the pressure put upon her to prove herself as truly evil and merciless caused Anya to snap, and she ended up granting a wish that brutally murdered an entire college fraternity house. After committing this act, however, she was immediately stricken with a sickening sense of shock and guilt. The demon was truly horrified by what she had done, and her remorse pushed her to a practically suicidal brink. Ultimately, she engaged Buffy in a battle in a maddened attempt to end her own life. When the fight was interrupted by the sudden appearance of D'Hoffryn, Anya begged him to reverse the effects of the wish she had granted...even if it meant giving up her own life and soul.
But D'Hoffryn, disgusted by how blatantly human she had become, instead killed her friend Halfrek in her place. Alone, and dejected with the realization that she had no real idea who she was anymore, Anya retreated back to her apartment, rejecting the help Xander offered her. In fact, at this point Anya made it pretty clear that she no longer wanted anything to do with the Scoobies...until, of course, D'Hoffryn changed his mind about wanting her dead. When he began sending assassins after her, she was suddenly very quick to rejoin Buffy's ranks as the Scoobies and the Potentials prepared to fight against the First Evil.
This was how she spent the rest of the year; providing some clumsily-worded pep-talks and battle plans for the Potentials, having the occasional fling with Xander, and unfailingly providing bits of sarcasm from the background. When Buffy led the final attack on the hell-mouth, Anya was among those who accompanied her. Unfortunately, her final firm alliance with the side of good didn't have such great results...in the middle of the battle, even as the hellmouth collapsed, Anya was killed by one of The First's harbringers.
Her revival was really...just an accident, honestly. Being a demon for over a thousand years did not leave her without certain ties to this world. A couple of vengeance demon worshipers , messing around with powerful dark magic enhanced by ancient artifacts they probably should've never gotten their hands on in the first place, attempted to summon the spirit of 'Anyanka'. Evidently, things got twisted around; perhaps because of the human state she'd been in at the time of her death, and...Anya was ultimately brought back to life, both corporeal and alive.

- Best Friends- The Scoobies are the closest thing Anya has to friends, though I wouldn't say she's best friends with all of them. She's closest to Xander and Andrew, I suppose.
- Mentor- Anya's entirely too proud to look up to anyone, unfortunately.
- Boss- D'Hoffryn, the leader of the vengeance demons, was her leader for centuries. As for her human life, Rupert Giles was her boss when she worked at the Magix Box.
(Love Life)
- Love of Existence- Xander Harris - A little bit of Anya will probably always love him, because he is the only person in over a thousand years that she actually truly has loved.
- Current Lover- N/A
- Former Lovers-
Xander Harris - Ex-fiance - Relationship ended when he left her at the altar on the day of their wedding.
Olaf - Ex-husband - Relationship ended when he cheated on her....aaand she turned him into a troll.

(Roleplay Sample)
It was pretty safe to say that at the moment, Anya Jenkins was very, very confused. Being abruptly summoned back from the dead by crazed demonic worshipers would do that to a gal. Anya had died amongst chaos, fighting, and confusion...and now, everything was still. Still and quiet.
She walked dazedly through the Los Angeles city park, bemusedly gazing around at the people walking by as if the sheer normalcy of their lives didn't make sense to her. They were all so...so tangible and alive. The vengeance demon could've reached right out and touched them, if she'd wanted to...but even bleary, newly-revived Anya imagined that such an action might come off as a bit strange. Still, seeing the people around her was comforting.
Yet, none of them were familiar. They weren't Xander, or Buffy, or Giles...they were just...strangers. But what else had she expected? This was Los Angeles, not Sunnydale. Sunnydale had been completely and utterly destroyed, as Anya had discovered upon teleporting back to the edge of the crater where the town had once been. There was literally nothing left, and it didn't take a genius to figure out why. If anything could take out the whole hellmouth, it would be a battle with The First Evil. Which was... technically a victory, right? Or at least she was assuming it was, seeing as the rest of the world still seemed to be relatively in one piece.
That only left one question in her mind: what had happened to the Scoobies? Had they managed to escape before Sunnydale's destruction? ..How was it even possible that they had, when it looked like the entire town had virtually imploded? The thought of any of them dead, let alone all of them, made Anya want to be sick. She swayed a little on the spot, feeling a bit dizzy. Right. Emotions. She'd forgotten how potent they could be. Taking a deep breath to steady herself, the blonde made her way over to a bench situated near the edge of the lake, and sat down.
It wouldn't be at all difficult for an onlooker to determine that she was more than a little stressed, for she sat with her head in her hands, her fingers repeatedly running through her golden locks. She was alone, in a strange city full of strange people...and there was every possibility that her friends were dead.
This...kind of sucked.
